What are the set-up fees and monthly costs involved?
Host Digital charges a one-off set-up fee that varies according to the size and type of web hosting package you’ve ordered. The full price list for hosting packages are shown on the web hosting pages.

How do I set up my email?
Host Digital web hosting clients can set up POP accounts, forwarders/aliases and auto-responders using Cpanel™, the web browser control panel that comes with every Host Digital web hosting package. You can do this yourself without any assistance from Host Digital staff.

How do I upload my files?
All Host Digital web hosting packages allow the use of FTP, SSH, file manager, MS FrontPage™ and other web development publishing programs to upload files to your website.

Is there a trial period or money-back guarantee?
If you are not happy for any reason, you’re free to cancel your Host Digital service within 30 days and your full set-up fee and monthly costs will be refunded. The only exception is if you violate the Host Digital Terms of Service (TOS).

How am I billed?
Host Digital will send your invoices via email. Terms of payment are 7 days. We are happy to offer a monthly payment option on most web hosting packages. Hard copy invoices can be snail-mailed on request. You will receive your invoice for each service/account on the first day of the month in which the service was ordered. Host Digital prefers payment via direct deposit, cheque, money order or Pay Pal.

How much assistance do you provide for my website?
We can help you with the basic settings for your email and FTP software and with using the web browser control panel. Host Digital will provide support for any program or CGI script that comes pre-installed with your web hosting package. We’re happy to have a quick look at a design or development problem and offer suggestions if it is a small issue. However, Host Digital is not responsible for teaching you how to use another companies’ products or assisting you with your own programs and CGI scripts. If you choose to install your own programs and CGI scripts on your site you are responsible for making them work.

Are there any hidden costs?
All costs are stated plainly on our website. We do not hide fees in fine print, or in our terms of service pages. The only costs beyond our flat monthly rates are those incurred due to excess disk space or bandwidth usage. Fees for excess usage are plainly stated in our price list. If your site exceeds its allocated space or racks up bandwidth, Host Digital will often allow you to upgrade your package for the current month to avoid additional fees. You can monitor your disk and bandwidth usage using the control panel included in your hosting package.

What is Cpanel™?
Cpanel™ is the brand name of the web browser control panel software that Host Digital includes in its web hosting packages. Information about this product can be found at http://www.cpanel.net.

What happens if I decide to leave Host Digital?
You are free to leave at any time.

What type of support do you offer?
Host Digital offers support to our clients 24/7/365 via an email-based ticket system.

What is the average response time?
We strive for response times of no more than a few hours. During business hours our response time is usually just a few minutes. We aim to provide quick, courteous and helpful service at all times.

Do you support international domain names and clients?
Host Digital can host all international domains on its servers. We welcome overseas clients as long as all correspondence is in English. The client is responsible for handling the registration process of foreign domain name(s). This must be pointed to name servers on the Host Digital network as assigned, or you can use other name servers and route the domain name to the IP address you are assigned. Host Digital cannot handle the foreign domain registration process for you because we do not speak all of the languages that may be involved. Host Digital will assist you, however, with any technical information you need to register an international domain.

May I view your Terms Of Service?
The Host Digital Terms Of Service (TOS), including policy and service guidelines, are available to view online.

What if my site breaks your Terms Of Service?
Access to your website/s may be suspended for violations of our Terms of Service . Host Digital reserves the right to cancel sites on a repeat offence. Notification will be sent before Host Digital takes any action.

How long have you been in business?

Host Digital has been in business since June 1998.

How do I transfer my domain name?
Host Digital will attempt to file the necessary electronic forms for your domain name transfer with the InterNIC. If this is not possible because of your specific domain name registrar, we will send you instructions on how to do it yourself, including all the necessary technical details.

What if I want to upgrade my website?
You may upgrade or downgrade your Host Digital web hosting package at any time. You will be required to pay the difference between the set-up fee for your current plan, and the plan you are upgrading to, should you decide to choose a larger plan. You will then pay the new monthly fee for the package that you select.

How is my website monitored?
Host Digital maintains internal and external monitoring systems for every server in the Host Digital network. The servers are checked every 5 minutes via network monitoring software. Host Digital monitors uptime as well as individual features and services running on each server. Our staff are notified via email and SMS if a problem occurs.

What is the uptime?
Host Digital strives to maintain a 99.9% network and server uptime service level. This uptime percentage is a monthly figure, does not include any scheduled hardware/software upgrades, nor ‘acts of God’. Our definition of an act of God includes fire, flood, cyclone, earthquake, tel-co fibre issues (i.e. Optus or Telstra cutting a fibre line somewhere), backbone peering point issues, hard drive failure (faulty hardware is rare, but cannot be predicted or avoided), as well as network floods, hacks, and attacks. If Host Digital fails to meet its 99.9% uptime guarantee, and it is not due to one of the above reasons, partial downtime credits will be made available to each client, upon request, on a case by case basis.

Do you have a Service Level Agreement (SLA)?
The Host Digital Service Level Agreement (SLA), including policy and service guidelines, are available to view online.

What is your connectivity to the internet?
Information about our internet connectivity and network infastructure is available to view online.

How is excess bandwidth billed?
Host Digital maintains software on every server and on the switches to monitor individual website usage and server-wide usage. Bandwidth is billed per gigabyte (GB) over your monthly allocation, rounded up to the nearest gigabyte. At the beginning of each month you will receive your excess bandwidth bill for the previous month, if applicable.

What is included in my hosting?
Host Digital provides full hardware and software support and system administration for your Host Digital web hosting solution. The software provided includes the operating system, FTP and email software, web server software and a control panel. Everything you need to conduct business on the internet or maintain a personal website is included. Host Digital will also provide basic support on services and software that we provide with your account. However, Host Digital does not develop your website for you, or provide technical support on how to use software products that we do not provide to you directly.

How many sites are currently running on each server?

Host Digital does not have a set quantity of domains running on each machine. Host Digital monitors each server's performance levels and attempts to maintain a low server load average and high CPU availability. As needed, Host Digital will upgrade the hardware to increase server performance. Individual domains that become too much for the server to handle, utilising too much of the server’s resources, are moved to servers set up specifically for such resource-intensive accounts.
